Its old traditional tune, known almost everywhere in Estonia some decades ago. The song has developed among soldiers, not only, who fought in turkish war. The song is in half-estonian half-russian language and is actually very bizarre!
There are very much songs form turkish war, some can be found here: http://meestelaul.metsatoll.ee/foorum

etc..
and it would be fun to see turkish version of the song :) |

I am a bit confused Lauri. I wonder about the connection between Estonians and cities like Kars, Erzurum or Plevne. Is it because of you were under the Russian rule "for a while" and had to join their militaries? |

By the way, I heard that there was an Estonian villiage in Kars, actually only two Estonians left there who know only single Estonian word "tere" :) |

..yes, estonians fought with russian army (unfortunately they had to) it was 25 years of serving then, so, some estonian men came back and had forgot their language and sung and talked, half russian, half estonian - thats why the wierd turkish war song :)
and of corse, some, who stood alive, stayed in Turkey.. |

En, vaan aion yrittää päästä laivaan, jossa on hylkeen pään kuva. Jos minua ei oteta kyytiin, kokeilen uimista. |

esinemise järjekord alt üles, nagu möuramistes kirjas. 1 bänd 45 minti pärast uste avamist. |
